WITH ATMOS BOILERS NOW YOU CAN HAVE YOUR CAKE AND EAT IT

Atmos_cupcake_have_your_cake_feature_image

AT LAST…ATMOS WOOD BOILERS HAVE MCS ACCREDITATION!

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

MCS accreditation is required for any wood boiler users wishing to claim under the RHI government payments scheme for biomass renewable energy sources.

SO WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL?

The big deal is more money in your pocket!

Up until now, MCS accreditation has not been in place on the excellent Atmos boilers we stock here in M.Large, meaning that some customers have decided to opt for alternative MCS accredited units and in doing so, missed out on some fantastically well priced wood boilers and accessories.

So to recap, before you could either have the great value of Atmos with no access to RHI scheme payments, OR access to the RHI scheme payments with an alternative and in most cases more expensive boiler supplier.

Now, you can have your cake and eat it….Atmos cost savings with MCS accreditation.

FFIS orders coming in thick n fast

Mlarge_FFIS_Orders_truck_Jul2014

Back in March of this year we wrote a post about the FFIS (Farming & Forestry Improvement Scheme) grant scheme and the current round of funding.

To serve as a brief reminder here is a link to the original article.

The round 3 of funding closed for applications in April 2014 and allowing a few months for application paperwork processing and funding payments, we are happy to see that this scheme must be helping our customers and dealers out.

This photo from yesterday shows a (rather packed!) shipment of Hakki Pilke firewood processors going to customers and dealers with the financial assistance afforded by the scheme.

It gives us a great sense of pride that we are playing our part in helping our farming, agricultural and forestry industry clients to maximise their potential with machinery to diversify, improve, quicken and expand their firewood sales operations.

If you want to find out how adding firewood sales can impact your farming business talk to us on +442890 342838 or contact us online and we’ll be happy to advise you.

ROYAL HIGHLAND SHOW 2014

M.Large at Royal Highland show 2014

Well…we’re back from another successful showcase at the Royal Highland Show in Ingleston, Edinburgh.

The good weather meant a steady flow of visitors to the show and there was plenty of interest garnered at the demonstrations.

For us the highlights were the reactions and interest received in the newly improved and branded Scorpion 440 tree shear and the new Palms models with their updated 2 tone livery.

It is also very interesting, essential in fact, for us to hear the real life stories, concerns and wish lists of our customers, and as ever we’ll take it on board in order to provide better service and enhanced ranges of useful time saving equipment.

We are pleased to show a gallery of photos of M.Large’s stands and machines at the Royal Highland Show 2014.

GETTING IN THE PINK FOR THE GIRO D’ITALIA

M.Large help with Giro D'Italia 2014 preparations

Anyone visiting our little corner of the world recently will have found it hard to miss the fun manner with which towns, businesses and tourist attractions have been welcoming the Giro D’Italia event ……..by painting the province pink!

By now you’ll have seen pink sheep, pink horses, pink tractors, pink bicycles, themed pink cocktails, pink benches, and even pink-ified sculptures….cue M.Large.

We were tasked by Newtownabbey Borough Council to give an event friendly look to the Whiteabbey roundabout Spiked sculpture…by painting it pink!

Since the work had to be carried out with no disturbance to traffic flow at such a busy location, the job could only be carried out with specialist equipment, which made our 4WD self propelled access platform the perfect tool for the job…(ok we might have needed a paintbrush or 2 and a few buckets of elbow grease as well.)

The Manitou was driven onto the roundabout which is in full bloom with a ring of daffodils so in consultation with Newtownabbey Borough Council, we deployed grass guards and outriggers to minimise ground impact…you’d hardly know we’d been there!

The main sculpture was painted a fetching shade of pink with the surrounding low wall getting a contrasting white coat. The job even featured in local media and on Twitter.

This is just one of the fun and exciting examples of pink fever in honour of this prestigious cycling event performed on a global platform. Like it or not, the repainted Whiteabbey sculpture certainly shows the fun side of the area and the council and we’re proud to have played our part.

USING AIRSPADING TO GET TO ROOT ISSUES AT STORMONT

Stormont-lime-trees-feature_Fotor

PROJECT:USING “AIRSPADE” TO GET TO ROOT ISSUES IN STORMONT.

20131210_104943

Stormont estate is a glorious example of a well maintained public park, made picturesque by the mature trees lined up in a “guard of honour” fashion.

The trees are lime trees and while impressive and strong in appearance a few are showing early signs of potential issues due to waterlogging.

Stormont Estate immediately involved our arboricultural tree survey team to assess the situation and recommend a course of action to prevent any further degradation.

What was revealed was that the ground around tree roots was suffering from soil compaction  and some waterlogging, thus starving some of the roots of air.

Our team elected to use an innovative but proven technique known as airspading as used for similar situations kew gardens old sign on mlarge.com blogin the world famous Kew Gardens.

Airspading uses a high pressure air hose to loosen soil particles and “dig” around the root structures of trees without damaging or disturbing the roots.

The air spade was used initially to survey the trees, assess the state of their health and diagnose what issues existed. In addition the airspade was also used as part of the remedy by digging a number of trenches around the finer roots and feeding them with a suitable propogating mixture.

Such regard is placed upon these trees and their aesthetic appeal that essentially Stormont Estate stipulated that they were to be preserved and maintained at all costs, hence the need for an innovative and unusual course of action The air spade enabled an invasive investigation and remedial work to be carried out without affecting or damaging the tree structure.

ROLLING ROLLING ROLLING

Depending on your generation  that headline will bring back memories of “Rawhide” or “Limp Bizkit” …but what we’re getting at is that we think it’s a necessity for any serious firewood processing business to rapidly feed timber without manual handling.

That’s the job of a log deck …essentially it feeds logs into the processor on hydraulic rollers, ensuring there is a plentiful supply of timber being fed for cutting and splitting.

Hakkifeed log decks from Hakki Pilke offer best of breed log feeding for PTO and electric combi log splitters. With hydraulic infeed pinch rollers, adjustable legs and mechanical separators they will make an elegant solution to feeding timber to your firewood processor. It’ll be one of those purchases you wondered how you did without!

See a Hakki Feed log deck in action with an Easy 50 processor in the video below.
